Privacy Policy

In short: your stuff lives on your device by default. Turn on multi-device sync and it's mirrored to our server — bound to your account so you can restore it elsewhere — and deleted when you delete your account.

1. Where your data lives

  • Chat history, pet profiles, extracted memory points and growth progress live on your own device by default. When you turn on multi-device sync (account-bound), they're mirrored to our server — encrypted in transit, bound to your account — so you can restore them on another device, and they're deleted when you delete your account.
  • To let your pet "remember you", we extract a few key points from your chats (habits, anniversaries, etc.). The raw conversation is discarded after processing, not stored; but the extracted memory points are part of your pet's profile, so they sync and are stored when sync is on, and are deleted when you delete your account.
  • When you switch computers or reinstall, your chats, memories, growth and entitlements all sync back via your account — meaning they're stored on our server, bound to your account, and deleted when you delete it.

2. What the cloud does

Our servers only handle compute. Your uploaded source photo and conversation are deleted right after processing; but the AI-generated outputs (animated character, short clips, stickers) are stored in our object storage for multi-device sync, and removed when you delete your account:

  • turn your uploaded photo into an animated pet and short clips;
  • run dialogue inference so your pet can respond;
  • extract memory points (discarded right after);
  • moderate uploaded photos to block non-pet or improper content.

3. Account & sign-in

Your account (phone / third-party sign-in) is what binds your synced data — chats, memories, growth and purchases — so it can sync across your devices. We never use it to profile you or for ads.

4. Payment info

Payments go through third parties (WeChat Pay / Alipay / Apple, etc.). We never touch or store your card numbers or payment passwords — we only receive a "did this order succeed" result to grant your entitlements.

5. Usage stats

Product-improvement stats are off by default. Even if you turn them on, we only collect "was a feature used, did it crash" — never your chat content, photos, or identity.

Website analytics are also off by default. Only after you choose "Allow analytics" in the banner at the bottom of the page do we record anonymous things like "which page you viewed, which download button you clicked" — no personal identity, and no cookies. Choose "No thanks" and nothing is recorded; the site works the same either way.

6. You're in control

  • Ask your pet to "forget this", or wipe all memories anytime;
  • delete a pet and its related data;
  • delete your account — your account-bound cloud data (chats, memories, growth, entitlement records and generated outputs) is cleared with it.

7. Minors

Mochi is mainly for adults. If you're a minor, please use it with a guardian's consent and supervision. We don't deliberately collect minors' personal information; if we find any, we delete it promptly.

8. Third-party services

To deliver AI generation and chat, we send the necessary data (your uploaded photo, current conversation) to our cloud providers for instant processing. That data is used only to complete that request, nothing else.

We also use Sentry (server-side crash monitoring) and PostHog (server-side feature-usage analytics) to improve stability and experience; neither receives your chat content, photos, or personal identity.

9. Updates to this policy

If this policy changes in an important way, we'll let you know in the app or on the site. Continuing to use Mochi means you accept the updated policy.

We’d use anonymous analytics to improve Mochi — off by default, and the site works either way. Privacy
